Inside
Poem by : Emma J. Willden
Poem created on January 24,2020
I break
I cry
I scream
So loud that not a sound is heard
I smile
I lie
I laugh
I fake it, trying to believe it
I walk
I pause
I sprint
Running from the things I can’t escape
Do you see?
Do you know?
Can’t you understand?
I hold an avalanche at bay
I smile
I support
I uplift
Yet inside I just might break
I wake
I look
I see
The reflection of a stranger
I try
I stand
I fall
Who am I, where am I?
My hands shake
My lips tremble
Yet they see me,
They ask questions I can’t answer
No tears
I echo
I struggle
Can’t let them fall, not now.
I cradle
I support
I reassure
I must remain strong, steadfast.
